Much of the world eats a high-protein meal as their first part of the day because the body is able to utilise it more readily than stored fat. Eating heavy meals late and then resting results in the body storing it for later. So I'd say Oatmeal is ideal (since it's low-GI, too) which is why you see it on pretty much every western breakfast menu everywhere.
